About the Role

  • As a Registered Nurse within the Tamworth Mental Health Inpatient Unit, you will provide high quality, patient-consumer-focused, evidence-based nursing care. You will have the privilege of working with patients who are often at their most vulnerable while in hospital and will be rewarded as they improve in mental state and move toward recovery.
  • You will be well supported by the Leadership team which consists of the Nurse Manager, Nurse unit manager 2, Nurse unit Manager 1, Clinical Nurse Educator and 2x highly experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists as well as an extremely supportive medical team.

Where you’ll be working

  • You will be joining a contemporary and dynamic team, a rural involuntary Acute Mental health inpatient unit based in the Tamworth. The service covers an area that is the equivalent size of Tasmania!. Our team consists of passionate and diverse mental health specialists that acknowledge the value and richness that all people of different backgrounds can bring in our workforce.
  • The Nursing staff are a fun, energetic bunch who value working collaboratively as a team. They will welcome and guide you in any areas where support is required. The Allied Health team all hold specific specialist skills sets and bring a wealth of knowledge and support. Lastly the Medical team consists of some incredibly contemporary and evidence based Consultant Psychiatrists who are well supported by a fantastic group of training Registrars.
  • With the new planned mental health unit scheduled to be opened in the near future there will be plenty of opportunities to broaden your knowledge and expertise within the mental health setting.

About You
We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Willingness to learn and develop your clinical skills within a mental health settings
  • Have Effective engagement assessment, interactional skills including the ability to manage people exhibiting challenging behaviours
  • Possess High level interpersonal and communication skills whilst having the ability to work efficiently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team?
  • Passionate about providing Person centred and safe care

  • This position is full time; however, part time arrangements will be considered.
