About the Role:

  • Provide care to people presenting to the Emergency Department, inpatients, and aged care residents and their family; all whilst working within a small and friendly team environment, focused on patient and resident-centred care.
  • The facility has senior staff who provide support, encouragement, education, and orientation to the facility. Continuous education opportunities exist.

Where you’ll be working:

  • The team at Walcha MPS consists of Hotel Services and nursing staff, who work together in a cheerful and friendly environment as part of a small but warm-hearted community.
  • Walcha is home to some of Australia’s most rugged terrain and is located on the New England Tablelands, 1,067 metres above sea level. The region is well known for its fine wool and being one of the largest stock carrying areas in NSW. For those who like to explore the outdoors there is the Apsley Waterfalls, Tia Waterfalls, Budds Mare Lookout, Riverside, Werrikimbe and Willi Willi National Parks with bushwalking, camping and 4WDing.
  • You can take advantage of the rural lifestyle to raise your family with the town having two primary schools and a preschool. Affordable housing, and the prospect of this being within the town or located in your own slice of the country, the lifestyle options are many. The arts council hosts visiting theatre companies and artist workshops. There is strong support for sport and the annual agricultural show and races are community highlights.

About You:

  • You will be confident in completing assessments and treatment within the ED under the guidance of medical staff, either online or within the facility.
  • You will have time-management skills that allows you to prioritise and delegate care when necessary, in order to meet demands across the ED, acute ward and the aged care wing.
  • You will have an open, friendly, and relaxed attitude to patient, residents, visitors, family and their co-workers.


  • Four weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees)

Rural Health Incentives:
This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $20,000 in your first year
  • Retention incentive of up to $10,000 thereafter annually
  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation)
  • PLUS Relocation benefits (e.g. expenses incurred due to relocation such as leave for moving, travel to look at potential accommodation, removal and storage costs, transactional and incidental costs due to the sale and purchase of a home, plus more!)
  • PLUS Family Travel Assistance (e.g. reimbursement of a return economy air fare to and from the nearest capital city for a family member that is usually part of your household per year)

  • All payments and reimbursements made to part time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**: ??

  • Additional annual professional development days (up to 5 more per year)
  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year)
  • Computer/internet reimbursement (e.g. laptop, wi-fi costs)
  • Return airfare to and from your work base (or equivalent motor vehicle allowance) so you can still visit family and friends

**The total value of your incentive package would remain the same. Employees are responsible for seeking independent financial advice before accepting an Attraction and Retention Incentive package as part of their offer.
