Registered Midwife – Midwifery Group Practice

About the role:
As a Registered Midwife in the Midwifery Group Practice you will provide safe, compassionate woman centred care within the maternity and gynaecology service ensuring care is delivered in partnership with women and their families. You will take a leadership role in coordinating midwifery care, working in partnership with Registered Nurses, Student Midwives, Assistants in Midwifery and the multidisciplinary team in a collaborative model which places the woman at the centre of her maternity care. You will be supported in this role with a friendly team and comprehensive orientation.

About the facility: 
Tamworth’s superb strategic location and regional capital status has seen it become one of the nation’s most important medical treatment centres. Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is the largest health facility in NSW outside the Sydney-Wollongong-Newcastle metropolitan areas. Tamworth Maternity Services has 4 birth suites, 2 Assessment rooms and 20 Antenatal & Post-Natal beds. We provide Midwifery Home visiting services, caseload Midwifery care, ante natal clinics which is supported by a Clinical Midwifery Unit Manager, Lactation Consultant, 2 Clinical Midwife Educators, a Rural Clinical Midwife Consultant and is part of the WHAM Network. The unit is collocated next to the Special Care nursery and Paediatrics Unit which are both governed by the Paediatric Leadership team. Tamworth Maternity services has over 1100 births per year and has a strong working relationship with John Hunter Hospital Maternity services.

About you:
You are a dedicated Registered Midwife with demonstrated accountability, competence, proficiency and responsibility for own midwifery practice related to antenatal care, labour and delivery, postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding consistent with the AN&MC competency standards for midwives and the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles. You have a demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and to the acquisition and retention of advanced midwifery skills within 12 months. You are also committed to flexible working hours enabling the midwife to be available for allocated women.

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia. 
If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.

All NSW Health workers are required to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by 30 September 2021 and two doses by 30 November 2021 or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
