This position will be based at Tamworth and would require the successful applicant to be part of a team of full time couriers. The courier network covers the geographic area bounded by Scone, Gunnedah and Armidale. We use a modern fleet of courier vehicles. You would be part of a small group of dedicated couriers based out of Tamworth, who perform a vital part of our organisation in moving samples from point of collection back to the Laboratory in Tamworth.

What you’ll be doing

Responsible for the safe handling, preparation, transport and delivery of pathology specimens, samples and equipment to ensure consistent, reliable, safe and efficient courier service across NSW Health Pathology.

Current unencumbered NSW Class C Drivers Licence with exemplary driving record. (Recent RTA infringement record print out required)

Ability to be flexible and participate in a 24 hour / 7 day roster

A level of fitness appropriate to courier duties: walk long distances and lift, carry and move items of up to 10 kgs over an eight hour shift

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver efficient and effective services and build strong relationships with customers

Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and within a team and to promote teamwork as a basis for improvement

Demonstrated excellent time management skills the ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy Directive PD2023_022 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases. All recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. All recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

New to NSW Health Pathology? The preferred candidate may be required to undergo a functional assessment prior to appointment.
