About the Role:

  • You will be working predominantly within the community setting, providing a high-quality clinical service to patients and their families/carers
  • Put your rehabilitation knowledge to use, completing assessments and interventions to improve the quality of life for adults and elderly people living in the community
  • Provide quality, patient-centred and family inclusive clinical rehabilitation within a recovery framework that promotes wellbeing, independence, and social empowerment.

Where you’ll be working:

  • The Transitional Aged Care Program (TACP) in Armidale is a multi-disciplinary team supporting and providing aged care clients with the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing after discharge from hospital.
  • The TACP team comprises of Allied Health and Nursing professionals working closely with the clients and their family using an enablement focus, providing slow stream therapy aiming to improve the clients function, independence, and safety.
  • Armidale is in the picturesque New England region of northern rural NSW. The region has spectacular natural scenery to explore as well as fascinating, diverse cultural heritage.

Position Specifics:

  • This role has the option to extend to the Armidale Hospital’s Occupational Therapy Department.
  • Get the best of both worlds, working across the Transitional Aged Care Program (TACP) and Armidale Rural Referral Hospital (ARRH) Occupational Therapy Department.
  • The ARRH role would involve high level assessment, intervention and discharge planning within the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) team. There is also potential to assist the inpatient team as workload allows. The CHSP caseload involves working with elderly people in their homes and community to help them stay as independent as possible.
  • Working 2 days with TACP and 3 days with the ARRH OT team, you would get broad clinical experiences and be able to work with lots of talented professionals.

  • You will have the ability to analyse problems, set priorities and apply a range of options to develop solutions.

Supports available:

  • You will be provided with orientation and onsite training to ensure you are comfortable and competent with your role.
  • In the Community setting, the TACP has excellent support networks. You will be linked in with the OT team at the hospital to assist with peer support and ongoing education.
  • You will receive supervision from the Occupational Therapy department manager and have the opportunity to attend professional development activities and will be encouraged to attend appropriate courses that will assist you in your role.

Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme
This role is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $10,000 for the first 12-months.
  • Retention incentive of up to $5,000 thereafter annually
  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation)
  • All payments and reimbursements made to part-time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**: ??

  • Additional annual professional development days (up to 5 more per year)
  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year)
  • Computer/internet reimbursement (e.g. laptop, wi-fi costs)
  • Return airfare to and from your work base (or equivalent motor vehicle allowance) so you can still visit family and friends
**The total value of your incentive package would remain the same. Employees are responsible for seeking independent financial advice before accepting an Attraction and Retention Incentive package as part of their offer. ?
