Where you’ll be working:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Midwife to join our passionate team here at Glen Innes Health Service. Your role will be to provide women-centred care for our Modified Midwifery lead model of care where you will have ongoing support of our GP obstetrician if so required.

Midwifery group practice (MGP) is a primary health, midwifery continuity of care model that offers normal-risk women an option of continuity of midwifery care. MGP midwives will be responsible for a caseload of 40 women per year based on 1.0 FTE (i.e. 4 women per month over/for 10 months with no caseload during planned leave) and part-time midwives on a pro-rata basis. Glen Innes Maternity Service antenatal care will be an all-risk model of care providing full continuity of care to all women. Place of birth will be guided by risk factors identified in consultation with the woman. All Glen Innes women will have access to midwifery continuity of care in the antenatal and/or postnatal period in collaboration with the GP Obstetrician.

All women in the Glen Innes area will be eligible for acceptance into the Glen Innes Model of Care and will be allocated a known midwife for routine antenatal visits at 14, 28 and 36 weeks gestation. All other routine antenatal care will be provided by the GP obstetrician.

Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme

This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $10,000 for the first 12-months
  • Retention incentive of up to $10,000 thereafter annually
  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation)

*All payments and reimbursements made to part-time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**: ??

  • Additional annual professional development days (up to 5 more per year)
  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year)
  • Computer/internet reimbursement (e.g. laptop, wi-fi costs)
