Where you’ll be working:
  • The Pharmacy team here at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital (TRRH) is an experienced group of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. As well as TRRH, we provide clinical and support services to 12 rural and regional hospitals across the New England North West of NSW.
  • TRRH is a 300 bed rural referral teaching hospital providing medical (general, neurology, renal, cardiology, respiratory, gastrointestinal, oncology, rehabilitation), surgical (general, orthopaedic, ophthalmology, gynaecology, urology, ENT, vascular), obstetric, paediatric and mental health services. Critical care services include level five ICU, an HDU and CCU as well as one of the busiest Emergency Departments in regional NSW. Outpatient clinics support patients across the region with specialist services.

About the role:

  • Our pharmacists rotate between clinical areas and dispensary across the year. You’ll be reviewing patient medications, providing medicines information and helping patients and carers adjust to changes in medicine regimens.
  • You will provide information and clinical advice to nursing and medical staff as well as being part of in-service education for pharmacy staff and other clinicians.
  • Working in a regional hospital you’ll see a diverse range of patients and conditions while being part of close-knit multidisciplinary team. You will be challenged in clinical skills and problem solving as you provide exceptional pharmaceutical care to regional patients.
  • You will be supported by a network of senior pharmacists, as well as district QUM team and educator. Access to regular education – in person and virtual – is an integral part of our workplace, including in-services, grand rounds and regular district pharmacist education services. For those new to hospital pharmacy, we support you in your transition to the hospital environment.

About you:

  • Applicants for this position may be early career or more experienced pharmacists. You are someone who can think on the go, with excellent clinical skills and attention to detail; you enjoy problem solving and thinking outside the box.
  • You work independently but are comfortable asking for help and receiving advice from colleagues to achieve exceptional patient care.
  • While hospital experience is preferred, experience that provides you with an inquiring mind and desire to further expand your clinical skills is the main requirement.
