This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

About the Role:

  • This role works independently and autonomously with a range of adult clients requiring an OT assessment, and possible interventions in their homes.

  • The interventions can range from advice and recommendations to prescription of equipment and modifications.

  • The role also provides coverage to residents and acute inpatients in Multi-Purpose Services in smaller towns around Tamworth.

  • Orientation and support will be provided by your manager and other member of the wider team.

Where you’ll be working:

  • This position is based at Tamworth Community Health Centre in the Integrated Aged Care Team, which is made up of includes the Transitional Aged Care Program (nursing, OT, PT, AHA, Domestic), Clinical Nurse Consultants specialising in Dementia/Delirium, Psychogeriatrics, Continence and Women’s Health, End of Life Clinical Nurse Educator, and immunisation programs.

  • This role works closely with Occupational Therapists from the Tamworth Community Health NECACS team and is clinically supported by a Level 4 OT in that team.

  • Tamworth, with a population of 60,000 is a modern progressive city set in a picturesque backdrop of tree covered mountains.

  • You will have high level skills, experience and interest in working in a primarily community setting, providing assessment and intervention to clients to improve their safety, function and quality of life.

  • You will have the ability to work autonomously, and you will be client focused.

Rural Health Incentives:
This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $10,000 for the first 12-months
  • Retention incentive of up to $5,000 thereafter annually
  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation)

  • All payments and reimbursements made to part time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**: ??

  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year)

Transferring of incentive packages will depend on the location, position, and time served by the health worker in their current position. Eligibility to transfer existing incentive packages will be determined and approved by the health organisation. Health workers who are receiving incentive packages and are changing or moving positions should discuss the impacts with their manager or local Workforce Rural Health Incentive Team via HNELHD-RuralIncentives@health.nsw.gov.au to discuss your eligibility prior to applying if you are already receiving an incentive package.
