Aboriginal Sexual Assault Counsellor
Tamworth Community Health Service

About the role:
Tamworth Community Health is seeking an Aboriginal Sexual Assault Counsellor to provide a high quality clinical sexual assault counselling services to clients and their families and carers to ensure the provision of optimal outcomes. In this role you will be working in a supportive team of three Sexual Assault Counsellors to provide counselling to people who have experienced recent and past sexual assault. You will provide therapeutic intervention to people who have experienced recent and past sexual assault, including non-offending family members, to address the effects of sexual assault including children, young people and adults and their significant others to address the impacts of sexual assault.

You will be supported in this role through the Sexual Assault Service team, a Clinical Coordinator for Violence Abuse and Neglect Programs and strong networks throughout HNE Health.

The classification for this position is Level 3, however if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 Allied Health Professionals will be considered with appointment at the level commensurate with the applicants years of experience. The selection criteria reflect the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with their years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

About you:
You are a dedicated and compassionate person with tertiary qualifications and experience in a relevant counselling field. You are committed to working with Aboriginal people who have experienced personal violence and applying your demonstrated knowledge and expertise to provide effective individualised support.

Job share arrangements will be considered. An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia. 
If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
