The position of Coordinator will be based at Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre, one of Council’s directly managed Aquatics facilities and is responsible for managing the work, safety and activities of staff at the centre to ensure the effective and safe operation.

The position of Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre Coordinator will manage all aspects of the facility operation including staff training, recruitment and management, customer experience, plant management, reporting, auditing, hazard identification, and facility safety (including water chemistry) in accordance with NSW Health guidelines.

The position is significant to the ongoing growth of the facility playing a key role in the development of the Dubbo Regional Council aquatic operations. There is an expectation that the position will involve the need for flexibility in working hours, including weekend work during the aquatic operating season.


  • Manage day to day operations of the aquatic centre
  • Maintain and promote stakeholder engagement
  • Lead, coach, mentor and work with a diverse team


  • Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation or related discipline and Pool Operations certificate.
  • Current Royal Lifesaving Pool Lifeguard Certificate and RLS Pool Lifeguard Licence (or ability to acquire within 3 months of commencement
  • Chemical Handling Certificate (or ability to acquire within 3 months of commencement
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills that promote high team performance, with the ability to supervise and assist with coaching and mentoring staff
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in the operation of pool equipment including but not limited to pumps, filters, pool cleaners, dosing equipment and monitoring equipment; water quality requirements for public swimming pools and work health and safety requirements of an Aquatic Centre environment
  • Previous experience in a similar role including demonstrated knowledge of pool supervision, water safety, water education, first aid, resuscitation and rescue techniques and public safety requirements


We are looking for an experienced and qualified person in business and/or recreation management who has demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to drive high performance. You will be able to balance managing day to day operational matters whilst also contributing to the development of business and management plans. You are experienced with building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and delivering exceptional customer experience outcomes.

Please note that given the seasonal nature of the role extended periods of leave will be expected to be taken during the off season and shut down periods.

: $70,869-$82,362 per annum plus superannuation. This position is paid on an annualised salary agreement with increased hours in peak season and reduced hours in off season.
