Taronga is looking for an experienced, driven and motivated Commercial Operations Manager who is interested in joining a leading organisation in conservation, animal management and offers amazing guest experiences.

About the role…

This exciting role forms part of Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s management team and will manage the commercial products that the zoo has to offer (Hire Centre, Admissions, Zoo Café and Bar and The Waterhole).  As the Commercial Operations Manager you will lead a diverse team to deliver innovative first-class guest experiences.

 

Key accountabilities…

  • Manage a diverse and growing range of commercial services and products, such as, but not Manage a diverse and growing range of commercial services and products, such as, but not limited to, Zoo Café and Bar, The Waterhole, event functions, retail shop, hire centre, ticketing and admissions and volunteer guest experience programs.
  • Identify, develop and implement profitable and appropriate new business opportunities and commercial services.
  • Provide effective leadership to staff and operations ensuring appropriate systems, policies, procedures, resourcing and performance management
  • Maintain budgets and financial data to improve profitability within departments.
  • Delivery of financial targets in line with company budgets and implementation of cost control practices.
  • Ensure the food safety program is compliant and continuously operating with a profitable approach.
  • Promote a company culture that encourages high performance and high morale of all employees.

 

 

About you…

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • An ability to meet varying roster commitments, including school holidays and some weekends
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in Hospitality Management, Commerce, Business or Accounting, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of large, highly visible public venue, or tourist attraction including operating knowledge of best practice commercial and/or hospitality operations and evidence of experience in business development, planning and administration.
  • Experience and understanding of the NSW Food Authority Legislation
  • Current Class C driver’s license (or equivalent)
  • Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate and the ability to maintain a NSW Liquor License, if required.
  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense
