The Role:
  
Based in Howlong NSW, this is an excellent opportunity to learn Cost Accounting from the Finance Manager in a hands-on role.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience, or a strong interest in, manufacturing and will have the opportunity progress to Management Accounting.
  
This is a key role within the finance function leading the control and maintenance of our product costing system. Utilising our JD Edwards ERP you will add value to the business through financial control, management and analysis of our production operations, materials usage, freight and manufacturing overheads and associated recoveries.
  
You will perform a business partnering role supporting the Production Manager and National Sales Manager, preparing weekly and monthly KPI and operational financial reporting in an accurate and timely manner. You will also play an important role in the New Product Development (NPD) process by providing product costing data and support.
  
Duties include:

  • Financially control and analyse key manufacturing expense areas including materials, labour, energy, repairs and maintenance
  • Oversee and produce variance analysis reporting including materials usage, purchase price, labour and overhead under / over recoveries.
  • Oversee freight cost reporting, analysis and ensure accurate allocations back to products.
  • Oversee and maintain our JD Edwards ERP Bill of Materials and Routings and ensure product costings are reported in an accurate and timely manner
  • Manage and produce monthly and weekly KPI and Management Accounting reports utilising various systems including JDE and our Business Intelligence software tools
  • Provide support to our NPD process by providing accurate and timely product costing support and ensure NPD products are accurately costed through the stage gate process
  • Analyse sales forecasts for robustness and accuracy, assisting the National Sales Manager with variance to forecast and Return on Investment for promotional activities.
  • Provide variance analysis against standards and against the budget and forecast as well as forecast changes

Skills Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Actively working towards achieving CPA / CA status
  • Good Excel skills with the desire and confidence to learn
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of ERP and Financial Systems, an understanding of Business Intelligence software is highly regarded
  • Ability to problem solve and think laterally
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to all levels within the organisation
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
