About the Role

We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Acute Physiotherapist. The hours are flexible with opportunity across the ICU/surgical stream and/or the Emergency Department/Medical stream. Negotiable for the succesfull applicant. 

We are seeking a self-motivated, positive, and influential Senior Physiotherapist who possesses a strong passion for acute inpatient management. The primary focus of this role is clinical caseload management alongside our rotating physiotherapists. Further responsibilities include providing support and guidance to the rotators and AHAs, delivering informal and formal education and in-services, making a multidisciplinary contribution to patient care and using your expertise to help contribute towards strategic improvement for our department and organisation.

The caseload management involves a diverse range of cases (pending applicant expertise and preference), including acute stroke, respiratory admissions, acute amputees, falls and frailty, neuro, cardiac, orthopaedic, trauma, general surgical, ICU and our ED Short stay and main department ED admissions. Unlike private practices, we don’t impose billable targets, allowing you the freedom to focus on quality and equality of patient care, maintaining evidence-based therapy for all who are admitted to our health service.

Effective communication is crucial in this role, and we are looking for a candidate with a nurturing, adaptable, and clear communication style to build rapport across a wide stakeholder group. Given the demanding and complex nature of the acute wards, the ideal candidate should be flexible, possess broad thinking, and demonstrate a solution-focused proactive approach to thrive in such an environment with constant pressure on beds.

Our team comprises of several experienced clinicians in both acute and subacute areas, ensuring direct daily support for the successful candidate to achieve personal and professional growth.

Our Physiotherapy Service

Our Organisation Physiotherapy Service is expanding and diverse throughout all areas of the organisation. We have front line Advanced Practice Physiotherapists contributing to Primary Contact Health Care in our Emergency Department through to outpatient clinics. Complementary to these roles we have Acute Senior and rotating Physiotherapists working in the main Emergency Department, ICU, Orthopaedics, Medical, General Surgical, Acute inpatient Mental Health, Inpatient subacute and subacute in the home, Maternity inpatients and Pelvic Health, Outpatients (including Community Health), Community Rehabilitation, Rural Allied Health, Transition Care, Complex Pain Service and spread vastly throughout the community support programs. We have a passionate and highly motivated Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology team who are supported by the best AHAs.
