The Position
The Retail Assistant, under the direction of the Retail Coordinator and working as part of the Business and Operations team and in collaboration with the Engagement team, delivers an exceptional experience to our visitors and customers. This position is based in the museum store, and is focused on sales, customer service, and supporting other retail activity across the museum’s revenue units.

Qualifications & experience 

  • Experience in Retail, Tourism, Arts & Cultural sector, or equivalent customer service or sales experience.. 
  • Appreciation for and understanding of visual art.

Tasks & responsibilities 

  • Support delivery of retail activity in MAMAStore and across other revenue units, in line with the museum’s objectives. 
  • Support retail administrative activities, including financial and operational processes. 
  • Maintain high quality, accurate museum information services. 
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors. 
  • Deliver an exceptional visitor experience and brand story to our visitors. 

Based on a 35 hour week, working a minimum of 21 hours across a 7-day spread with actual days and times based on the facility roster and to be negotiated with the supervisor. 


Live and work in a culture rich location minutes from the Murray River, just a short drive to one of Victoria’s best wine regions and with the ski fields so close you will be zooming down the mountains in under two hours.
