Job Type: Finance Officer

Hours: 33 hours per week (negotiable)

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to perform the role of Finance Officer. The position is responsible for the financial functions of the CHADAC including accounts and payroll, fleet, equipment and asset management, human resource management.

The position acts as a support person for the CHADAC CEO. 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Formal Qualifications in accounting/bookkeeping 
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting practices & Microsoft Office 
  • Minimum of 5 years finance background
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal organisations, communities, and individuals in culturally appropriate ways
  • Demonstrated understanding of the diverse health and social needs of Aboriginal people
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including a friendly and professional approach and an ability to deal with a broad range of people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including an ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, work to deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage sensitive information, maintain confidentiality and always remain impartial.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability of working autonomously with minimal supervision, and as an effective team member, promoting cooperation and commitment to achieve goals.

Duties will include (please see position description for full details):

  • Manage and maintain accounts including preparation of monthly financials for accountant and timely payment of accounts. 
  • Manage all payroll processing and administration.
  • Record of Debtors and Creditors – at 30-day intervals. 
  • Financial audit preparation, adherence to financial guidelines, completion of audit report in timely manner.
  • Manage human resource functions including personnel records, leave, and timesheets.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets in conjunction with the CEO.
  • Assist with asset and equipment management including maintaining the Asset Register, insurances, etc.
  • Reconcile and acquit monies from funding bodies. 
  • Provide efficient, effective and confidential administration support services for the CEO, including preparation of financial reports for monthly Board meetings & AGM.
  • Undertake work in accordance with the CHADAC Code of Conduct and the CHADAC Policies and Procedures.
