The Position

The Libraries & Museum Team delivers a diverse program of in-house curated and touring exhibitions across a range of flexible spaces including Albury LibraryMuseum and Lavington Library. 
Thematic areas include Albury and the surrounding region, contemporary culture and decorative arts, science and technology, and other topics of interest to the local community and visitors. 
As part of a small team, the Exhibitions Officer will play an integral role in the delivery of the exhibition program through the development, installation and maintenance of exhibitions and the Collection Gallery.

Qualifications & experience 

  • Certificate IV in Museum Studies or relevant tertiary qualification or relevant experience in a museum, library, art museum, gallery, cultural centre or equivalent. 
  • Class C (standard) Driver’s Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
  • Demonstrated experience in exhibition installation and de-installation and collection management in a public museum 
  • Demonstrated experience in exhibition administration, arts administration or cultural project management 

Tasks & responsibilities 

  • Manage the administration of inbound touring exhibitions. 
  • Manage the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, under the guidance of the Museum Coordinator and with the assistance of art technicians, touring venues, other Museum Team members and casual staff.
  • Undertake object handling, object packaging and condition reporting.
  • Work with curators and exhibition project managers to develop and deliver exhibition components including lighting, audiovisual components, fabrication, and other technical requirements.  
  • Ensure contractual obligations with relation to loaned exhibitions are met relating to security, maintenance and cleaning.

Based on 35 hours per week, working 28 hours across a 7-day spread, with actual days and times being worked in accordance with facility roster. The roster may change from week to week to meet operational requirements. 


Live and work in a culture rich location minutes from the Murray River, just a short drive to one of Victoria’s best wine regions and with the ski fields so close you will be zooming down the mountains in under two hours.
