HouseTide Pty Ltd, a leading NDIS-registered provider, is seeking dedicated and compassionate people to join our Service Delivery Team as a Disability Support Worker. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised care and support to individuals with disabilities. 

Your responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Building rapport and cultivating meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
  • Assisting individuals with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, domestic activities and medication administration.
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies in accordance with Behaviour Support Practitioner recommendations.
  • Assisting individuals in understanding and managing their emotions, behaviours, and triggers.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and providing guidance and support during challenging situations.
  • Documenting behavioural incidents, observations, and interventions accurately and comprehensively.
  • Empowering participants to develop their independence and enhance their social skills.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised support plans.
  • Providing transportation and accompanying participants to community activities and appointments.
  • Monitoring participants’ progress and maintaining accurate documentation of their achievements.
  • Demonstrating a person-centred approach and upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities.

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Genuine empathy and a deep passion for working with people with disabilities, committed to their overall well-being.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish strong relationships with participants and their families.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs and preferences of individuals.
  • Patience, understanding, and a non-judgmental attitude towards the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
  • Previous experience in providing personal care and support to individuals with disabilities (advantage).
  • Previous experience with challenging behaviours/complex participants. 
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications (or a willingness to obtain them).
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check (or a willingness to obtain).
  • WWCC VIC & NSW (or a willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with the NDIS framework and its principles (advantage).
